For more than a decade the concept of these machines has proved successfully in the market. The shear roll compactors CMS are working in many countries in the field of

• homogenising
• dispersion
• melting
• compacting
• granulating

of materials with medium and high viscosity. The working temperature ranges from 20 †C to 260 †C.


Unused reserves of many additives can be utilized supremely when compounded with a shear roll. Its intensive milling, shearing and kneading actions produce exceptionally fine dispersion of the particles. This fine dispersion is preserved during the processing steps which follow, such as injection moulding or extrusions.Another advantage is the possibility of using very expensive processing aids and additives sparingly.

Open construction

Thanks to the open construction of the machine, fast production change and cleaning are no problem when the product or the colour has to be changed. Further, this construction allows evaporation, i.e. degasing of humidity as well as of solution materials and foaming agents during the process.

Heating and cooling with two-step temperature control

Rolls with exact control of their surface temperature are essential for reliable operation of the shear roll. Currently, the machine has two temperature zones per roll which means a total of four independently adjustable zones.

Our Shear rolls are currently available in three sizes. They cover (with some overlapping) through-puts ranging from 5 to 500 kg/h. The actual performance depends strongly on the raw material and has to be determined in the most cases by experiments on a pilot unit.
